The IEEE SmartGridComm 2018 Organizing Committee invites proposals for tutorials to be held during the 2018 IEEE International Conference on Communications, Control, and Computing Technologies for Smart Grids (IEEE SmartGridComm 2018) in Aalborg, Denmark from 29th Oct. till 1st Nov, 2018. IEEE SmartGridComm provides a forum to discuss all aspects that are relevant to information technologies of smart grids. Tutorials provide an opportunity for conference attendees to learn from leaders in the field, explore cutting-edge topics, and acquire new insights, knowledge, and skills.

We solicit proposals of tutorials on a clear and focused topic relevant to the conference scope. Suitable tutorial topics range from emerging research areas to established techniques of practical and industrial relevance. Tutorials will be open to all registered attendees without an additional charge. A tutorial will either last for 3 hours or 1.5 hours.

Important dates:

Tutorial proposal deadline: April 17, 2018

Notification: May 1, 2018

Submission Procedure:

Tutorial proposals should be submitted in an all-in-one PDF file via email to the Tutorial Chair. They must include the following sections:

  • Title
  • Abstract (no more than 500 words) to describe the main focus and topics to the addressed
  • Motivation: why the tutorial is appropriate for IEEE SmartGridComm 2018
  • Format of the tutorial: half-day (3 hours) or mini-tutorial (1.5 hours)
  • A syllabus outlining the contents of the tutorial. The syllabus should be realistic given the time available
  • List of speakers: A tutorial may have one or more speakers. Tutorials should NOT become de facto mini-symposia with many speakers. Please provide the speakers’ names, affiliations, and describe the part of the tutorial they will cover.

Acceptance criteria

Tutorial proposals will be assessed based on their relevance to the conference topics, their estimated benefit for prospective participants and their fit within the tutorials program as a whole. Selection factors include: relevance, timeliness, importance, audience appeal, and speaker qualification and experience. Selection is also based on a balance between different topics, expected attendance, and background of the intended audiences.
