By tradition and history The Obel Family Foundation enjoys a special attachment to Aalborg and Northern Jutland and disperses its grants more broadly in that region of Denmark. In addition, the Foundation also supports projects outside Denmark, although on a more limited scale. In 2017 The Obel Family Foundation granted 113,6 million DKK for the benefit of the public good.

The EMD (Energi- og MiljøData) Foundation is a commercial foundation with the purpose to disseminate and develop knowledge and technology, which aims at reducing resource usage and the impact on the environment. This will primarily be achieved by promoting development and use of software, calculation models, calculation methods etc. as well as consultancy herewith.

In addition, it is the Foundation’s purpose to support projects and development activities, including general research through delegation of/or investment promoting the purpose.

Thy-Mors Energi A.M.B.A. - a joint operations company – runs an operating company by the name Thy-Mors Energi Service A/S. The joint operations company is the corporation’s public face and responsible for operating on behalf of the grid company on a daily basis as well as maintaining all obligations towards the consumers. The influence of consumers is secured by the election of governors for the board in Thy-Mors Energi A.M.B.A. Thy-Mors Energi ensures a stable delivery of electricity to app. 44,000 consumers in Thisted and Morsø municipalities as well as parts of Struer (Thyholm) and Jammerbugt (west of Fjerritslev) municipalites. The area covers 1,600 square kilometers. Thy-Mors Energi Elnet A/S provides the electricity and is overall responsible for operating the grid.

The Municipality of Aalborg is the third largest municipality in Denmark with a population of over 213.000 inhabitants. Its largest city is Aalborg, the fourth largest city in Denmark. Over 114.000 of the municipality’s inhabitants live in Aalborg. The municipality is divided into seven departments. Each department has its own area of responsibility: Health & Culture, Urban & Spatial Planning, Family & Employment, Education, Elderly & Disabled, Environment & Energy, and the Mayor’s Department.
